At Complexe scolaire Mapendo (Tshangu, Kinshasa), the Integrity Club reported on EduCheck: environmental damage caused by the works. Within 47 days and through « Meeting with the school management », the project fixed the problem; the monitors checked the fix on site.
The « Installation de panneaux solaires » project is meant to improve Complexe scolaire Mapendo (Tshangu, Kinshasa). Student monitors of the school’s Integrity Club, trained by the Anti-Corruption Research Centre (CERC), follow the works with the EduCheck questionnaire to check that what was promised is delivered.
The problem
On 19 November 2025, the Integrity Club reported the following problem at Complexe scolaire Mapendo: environmental damage caused by the works.
An unsafe site puts both the workers and the children of the school nearby at risk.
The problem was published on the school’s page and sent to the project management committee and the contractor.
The dialogue
The monitors opened a dialogue with the project management committee and the contractor:
- Meeting with the school management
The result
The fix was recorded on 5 January 2026, 47 days after the report.
During their visit on 11 October 2026, the monitors checked the fix on site: the problem moved to « Verified » on EduCheck.
This success shows what citizen monitoring makes possible: a problem made visible, a dialogue with the right people and a verified solution, for the benefit of pupils.
Your school can change too
